Dorset History Forum Events Survey The Dorset History Forum has now been in existence for about 18 months. During that time we have held: an Inaugural AGM at Thomas Hardye School; a Saturday Forum in Blandford and an AGM Forum in Christchurch. The committee recently formed a small group to plan future events and this group want your views on events that you would like to have on the programme.
The inaugural meetings to establish the Dorset History Forum showed that there was a wish to bring together the many societies and institutions involved in the history and heritage of Dorset to share knowledge and promote the research that is taking place through out the county. We aim to develop the Saturday Forums as events to bring people together from all over the county. These will be held at different venues around the county and organised by societies and institutions to showcase their work or village/town. The pattern we have established for these is two per year in autumn (with the AGM) and spring. In addition we would like to develop the idea of ‘workshops’ to provide practical advice and support on topics such as publishing, copyright and fundraising. This type of session could also be used to explore types of sources that can be used for research or indeed to further explore topics that might be of interest to a number of societies across the county.
These are just some of our thoughts but we need your opinions on these ideas and to find out what you want from Dorset History Forum events. We would be very grateful if you would use the survey form overleaf to give us your views. Please return this by 30th April 2009 to Jacqui Halewood, Dorset History Centre, Bridport Road,Dorchester Dorset DT1 1RP. So we can start to plan the events programme for 2009/10.
Thank you Jacqui
